Purchased in 1978 by Mr. Gus Birnie, Riverside Pontiac Buick GMC Ltd. has gone from a small operation to the largest General Motors dealership in the Leeds & Grenville District. Family owned and operated, it's not hard to see why it has flourished to become a favorite among the community.

Riverside's beginning started years before Gus Birnie acquired the building at 303 Edward Street in downtown Prescott, but it was that event that propelled the business to the success story it is today. With the help of General Manager Ted MacMillan and Gus Birnie's sons, Stuart and Stephen, the business took off.

In 1999 the dealership expanded and took over a building on Highway #2, East of Prescott. The service, sales and body shop operated from that location. In 2003 it became apparent that Riverside was going to continue to grow, and a new home for the rapidly expanding business was needed. Discussions were held, General Motors approved, and 9 months later on Friday June 11, 2004 Riverside closed it's doors on Highway #2, and re-opened Monday June 14, 2004 in a multi-million dollar building north of the 401. All office furniture, technician's tools and over 250 cars were moved in a 2-day period.

Riverside Pontiac Buick GMC Ltd. boasts a 9-Acre lot, 19,000 square foot state of the art facility, designed with the best interest of employees and customers in mind. Private offices for all Sales Staff, board room, lunch room, Parts Department, and storage. Completed in June of 2004 the new dealership has a large showroom, GM Pro-Shop, customer waiting area, 14 brand new service bays, and an air conditioned, heated drive through service department that offers convenience and comfort to all our customers.

Riverside is a proud supporter of the Prescott community. Over the years the dealership has been awarded with the 2000 Prescott and District Chamber of Commerce Business Achievement Award, The Michael Boyles Business Expansion Award and the year that Canada hosted the Olympics, Riverside was the proud recipient of the Gold Medal Award for sponsoring numerous sporting activities for children. Riverside also donates merchandise for local charities and also participates in charity sporting events.
